How to Microwave Russet Potatoes
- 1). Scrub the potato under cool running water with a vegetable brush. Remove all the dirt from the surface of the potato.
- 2). Pierce the potato four to six times with the tines of a fork. Pierce on all sides so that steam can escape the potato as it cooks.
- 3). Wrap the potato with a paper towel. Set it inside the microwave.
- 4). Microwave on high power for four to six minutes, or choose the baked potato setting on your microwave if available. Turn the potato over halfway through the cooking time.
- 5). Leave the potato in the microwave for five minutes once the cooking time completes. The steam inside the microwave finishes the cooking process during this standing time.
- 6). Serve the potato immediately. Alternately, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before serving.
