After experiencing the emotional thrill of having your first child, it's a good idea to know what to expect from your baby, week by week.
As she will be experiencing much growth and change, this time can fly by for new parents.
Faced with much sleeplessness and difficult scheduling, it's easy to imagine how tired new parents must be.
Understanding the normal changes in your baby make it easier to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
As a newborn, your baby will be doing very little other than sleeping and eating.
There are a few significant landmarks in the first few weeks of her life, but overall it's just about getting the right amount of sleep and food.
For your baby, week one is relatively uneventful as far as development goes.
She'll be sleeping frequently and eating often, and you will find yourself changing a lot of diapers as well.
It's a good idea to be on the lookout for signs of Jaundice, as it's common in a newborn.
As a two-week old, your baby will love being held and caressed.
You might notice she'd more irritable as her vision begins to clear up and she can become overwhelmed with so many new sights and sounds.
It's nothing to worry about, unless she cries for hours at a time, which might indicate colic.
It's possible that your baby might start to lift her head in her 3rd week.
This is one of the major landmarks in her development.
This is also the time when she might start to rock from side to side when she's on her tummy.
These are exciting things for the parents to witness for the first time.
Week 4 is when baby will start to make noises like cooing and gurgling.
Some parents see this as baby's first attempts to communicate.
With so much going on with baby, week by week, it's easy to imagine how overwhelming parenting can be.
