Features of the Ducane Gas Grill 4400

27
    • The Ducane Gas Grill 4400 is designed for outdoor barbecuing with gas. Unlike a charcoal grill, you do not need charcoal and lighter fluid to use it. It uses propane or natural gas and can provide the heat for many barbecues before the tank needs refilling. Ducane strongly cautions against indoor use, as the exhaust gas is toxic carbon monoxide. A complete owner's manual, including assembly instructions, is included with every grill.

    Propane or Natural Gas

    • Ducane grills are designed to use either natural gas or liquid propane (LP) gas. Natural gas is methane; your public utility company provides this gas to your home via a pipe. A qualified gas technician can hook up your grill to the gas supply pipeline. LP is sold in tanks or bottles, and are available at many retail outlets. These tanks are about 18 inches tall by 12 inches wide. A special area in the cabinet of the grill -- below the cooking surface -- accommodates the gas tank. If you are uncomfortable installing the tank, a qualified technician can do this for you. While methane and propane are similar, they are not the same. Ducane recommends that if you wish to convert your grill from one type of gas to the other, that you should also change out internal cooking components. A qualified technician should be the only person to make this conversion.

    Smoking Tray

    • A special tray is included so that you can place wood chips in the cooking area. The tray allows wood chips to smolder, adding a smokey flavor to you foods. This narrow tray is placed inside the heating area, in one of two positions. Below the cooking surface is the first position. Above the cooking area is the second position. Below the surface allows for more smoke, and above allows for less smoke. Convection currents carry the smoke around the cooking chamber, permeating your foods evenly.

    Rotisserie Attachment

    • A rotisserie attachment allows larger food, such as a whole chicken or turkey, to evenly turn as it cooks. It is electronically driven, so you don't have to turn it by hand. Special slots are located in the grill sides, so the attachment latches in securely. No bolts are needed to secure it. You simply latch it into place with out tools.

    Side Burner

    • A small side burner ledge is provided for heating foods. This is useful if you wish to heat another dish, such as beans or vegetables. By the time the main foods are cooked, the side dishes will be done.
