How to Play Windmill

23
    • 1). Divide the group into two equal teams. You should divide up by age, skill level or any other measure to ensure the teams are divided equally. If the teams are not equal, the game will end up being a blowout and not be much fun.

    • 2). Place one team up to "bat" first. They should all be in a line with one person standing behind home plate, ready to kick the ball. The other team should spread out. You should have one person at each base, including home plate, two people in the outfield and one pitcher. This will help cover the field.

    • 3). Have the pitcher roll the ball to the first kicker. The kicker kicks the ball and runs to first base. They are safe if they make it there before a player from the other team touches the running player or the first base with the ball after it has been caught. The running player is also out if someone on the other team catches the ball on the fly.

    • 4). Run the bases. Each member of the kicking team will try to run all three bases (first, second, third) much like in baseball. However, the twist in Windmill is that the players must run the bases twice (first, second, third, first, second, third, home) to get a run.

    • 5). Run with your teammates. In Windmill, you may have multiple players on a single base at one time. However, if one person runs or steps off the base, everyone on that base must run to the next base. If the opposing team tags a player while the entire group is running, only that one person is out--the rest of the team can continue running as a whole. The opposing team may get several people out in one tag of the base the runners are heading for.

    • 6). Count each run. Every runner to touch home plate without getting tagged out gets a point for their team. After the game is finished (there is no set limit on number of rounds), the team with the most points wins.
