If you have children I'm sure you have friendly washable paint.
If you don't have extra paint, go to your local discount store and buy a few.
Cut the boxes to make them flat, use a few disposable plates for the paint and let the kids go wild with their imagination.
Camp out in the backyard.

This will give you something fun and free to do with your family.
