How to Keep Food Warm on a Table
- 1). Cover any steaming plates or baking dishes with aluminum foil. This works very well with meat dishes and casseroles.
- 2). Keep hot sauces and gravies in an ice bucket or coffee carafe. The material that the container is made out of will adjust to match and retain the temperature of the liquid inside.
- 3). Fill the bottom inch of a large pot or bowl with very hot water. Put smaller bowls of food inside the larger pot or bowl. This will keep the smaller bowls warm.
- 4). Transfer food into a slow cooker on the table and turn the heat to "Low."
- 5). Rent steam trays, which will keep large quantities of food warm at the table. Steam trays are electric warmers that keep food hot above a shallow crevice filled with boiling water. The metal casing allows food to keep warm evenly and steadily.
