Peligroso Cinnamon Tequila Review
About.com Rating
Why has it taken this long for the marriage of tequila and cinnamon to come together in a bottle? I don't know, but it is a wonderful thing and Peligroso Cinnamon Tequila is perfect for those with a love of both.
Peligroso's newest tequila was released in March 2013 and is their first step into adding flavor to their 100% Weber blue agave tequilas. This one is made with natural cinnamon extracts and "a blend of secret ingredients." The flavor is slightly spicy, has a nice balance of agave and warming cinnamon, and is a delight to sip straight and mix into cocktails.
It should be said that, while this is the first cinnamon-flavored tequila, McCormick Distilling did at one time produce Hot Rose, which was a cinnamon and tequila cream liqueur. That was like a cinnamon Tequila Rose, but what Peligroso has done if far superior. The cream is not needed and actually ruins the agave-cinnamon combination.
Drinking Peligroso Cinnamon Tequila
There are many new possibilities when it comes to mixing this tequila. Try it straight or chilled as either a sipper or a shot. You may also use it to replace the cinnamon schnapps of a Toastie shooter, because it is almost too good alongside amaretto.
In cocktails, you could mix this into a Tamarind Margarita, Apple Margarita, Irish Cactus, or even a Paloma. I highly recommend a Spiced Passion, which was made specifically for Peligroso Cinnamon. This drink mixes the tequila with horchata and passion fruit for an amazing array of flavors.
