Barracuda BC37 Stun Gun

If you're reading this, chances are you're either confused or just want some plain talk, without all the hype, as to which stun gun is truly the best.
Well, let me first start by clarifying one common point of confusion: A TASER Gun is not a Stun Gun.
A TASER Gun is a particular brand of stun device/self defense weapons.
They shoot electrodes up to 15 feet at an attacker and deliver an electrical charge.
A Stun Gun is a hand held stun device that requires the user to be within an arm's reach of the target and to apply the stun gun directly to the target's body.
A TASER Gun is a particular brand.
A Stungun is a generic term, which are produced by several brands.
For this discussion, we will not be talking about TASER Guns.
So, what is the best stun gun.
Well, we found a page on one website that says several things.
First and foremost, it says that the Barracuda BC37 is believed to be the best.
While most stun gun makers and sellers are pushing high voltage, which is somewhat important, the Barracuda BC37 generates 3.
7 million volts, which is generally considered high enough to penetrate up to a leather bomber jacket.
But, the site goes on to say that the amperage delivered by the weapon is even more important.
What does this mean? Think of it like this: voltage is the "push" behind the shock.
Voltage delivers the shock to the body.
Sure, 3.
7 million volts can certainly deliver the shock.
But, what if the shock is too tiny to matter? Amperage, or current, is the "shock' that the voltage delivers.
Amperage is what is delivered into the body's muscles causing them to spasm, fatigue and give out.
So, what good is a whole lot of voltage delivering just a teeny tiny amount of amperage? Not much.
Most units generate about 3 milliamps of current (or amperage).
And, this is generally sufficient.
It will require about 3-4 seconds of direct contact between the stun gun and the target to drop the average person to the ground.
In a face to face confrontation, this is a LOT of time.
The Barracuda BC37 delivers about 4.
5 milliamps of current, a full 50% increase over most units.
This amount of current will generally drop an average person to the ground in about 1-2 seconds of direct contact...
much quicker.
Beware of other extremely high voltage models as they typically deliver only about 1-2 milliamps of current.
So, yes, voltage is important, but in my opinion, amperage is even more important in determining the best stun gun.
And, so is overall quality of the product, warranty and battery quality.
The Barracuda certainly delivers on all accounts.
