    • 1). Measure out your rice according to the directions per the number of servings that you want. Place the rice into the inner pot of the rice cooker along with the correct amount of water according to the cooking instructions in your manual. Rice doubles in volume as it cooks. If too much is used, the rice could rise too high and overflow into the steam tray as it cooks.

    • 2). Place the filled inner pot into the unit. Turn the unit on to begin cooking.

    • 3). Clean and prepare your vegetables. Verify the correct cooking time using the guidelines for steaming vegetables that comes with your manual. Plan to insert the steam tray of vegetables into the cooker near the end of the rice cooking cycle, so that all the food will be ready at approximately the same time.

    • 4). Place your vegetables in the steam tray. Cautiously open the lid of the rice cooker to avoid being burned by the hot steam. Put the steam tray into the rice cooker and close the lid.

    • 5). Put on a pair of oven mitts when the appropriate amount of time has elapsed. Lift the lid, using caution to avoid the burning steam. Lift the steam tray from the cooker and check that it is properly steamed. If it is not done, put the steam tray back into the rice cooker. If it is cooked, close the lid of the rice cooker to allow the rice to finish cooking. When the rice is finished, the rice cooker will set itself automatically to "Keep Warm."

    • 6). Unplug the rice cooker from the wall when you are finished with the unit.
