What Is Labor Like? My Labor Experience

38
My straightforward labor and speedy return to pre-pregnancy body.
My labor was the most empowering experience of my life.
My labor was also not as painful as I had expected.
I gave birth to my daughter in April this year and I am already back in to the clothes I wore before I became pregnant in fact I've been back in them since about July.
I was fit enough to go back to my netball team, jogging and join a zumba class only six weeks after I gave birth.
I believe I achieved this very easy labor and return to my pre-pregnancy weight and fitness by not treating pregnancy as an illness and following the pregnancy without pounds programme.
So what was my labor like? My contractions started at around 11 o'clock on the night before I actually gave birth.
The contractions felt like a cramp you get when you get your period or have really bad wind.
At first they were very spread out so I went to bed as normal and tried to get some rest.
Then at around 5 in the morning they got stronger and I could no longer sleep through them.
I got up and had a bath, the warm water really helped with the contractions.
I also took some paracetamol.
When I got out of the bath a put my tens machine on it felt funny at first, but it really helped.
At 11am I went into hospital because the contrations were about 5 minutes apart.
When I got there I was already 5cms dilated (half way there).
My husband helped by using pressure points that he had learnt from a birthing partner book I got for him.
I also used a birhting ball and gas and air.
Before I knew it I was 7cms dialated and they said I could get in the birthing pool.
Again the warm water really helped with the pain, it almost numbed it.
At around 4pm I felt an overwhelming urge to push which I couldn't stop my body just seemed to take over my mind and I don't recall felling any pain at the pushing stage.
Then by 5pm my daughter was born.
How I feel now.
I am so happy.
I have started the family I have always wanted while maintaining my fitness.
The memories from my pregnancy and labor are all joyful.
My self confidence is high.
All aspects of my relationship with my husband are great.
My baby girl is the best thing that ever happened to me.
