How to Style Your Own Leather Belts & Buckles
- 1). Try the funky casual. If you are sporting a pair of jeans paired with a T-shirt, put on a big belt with a big buckle, but instead of closing the buckle at the traditional front end, do so on the side of your hips. This is a especially good idea if the belt buckle is really big, as the unusual positioning will draw attention to it.
- 2). Go for the boho-chick. Pair your dress up with a belt which you can place on the top of your waist. This will create a sun-clock silhouette. Close the buckle on the front side. If your belt doesn't fasten tight enough to hold in this position clasp it together with a vintage buckle. This is also a good look to add to a more serious type of business dress.
- 3). Try the hippie look. If it's a thin belt you have on your hands, you can team it up with some low-rise jeans and wear it very low on your hips. This look will work even better if you have two of the same kind of belts that you can cross over and attach with one big belt buckle.
- 4). Match the color of your belt or belt buckle with another item of clothing. It's best if you match another accessory like a neck scarf, a hat, a handbag or a pair of shoes. This will make the matching elements of your outfit the focal point of your look, putting the belt or the belt buckle in the center of attention.
