Make Your Own Salt Spray For Sexy Sunkissed Hair
Not too long ago, I was perusing the wonderful world of salt sprays in order to achieve that Blake Lively, running on the beach with ocean swept hair kind of look. You know the style she pulls off so well, much to our chagrin. Anyway, most of the sprays I came across retailed around the $30, which I simply couldn't justify for what was essential water and salt in a bottle. And so, this got me thinking, why not make my own?
Which I did by throwing together a few kitchen cupboard ingredients for beautiful beach curls...
What you need:
- An empty spray bottle
- 1 cup (8 oz.) of luke warm water
- 1 teaspoon of sea salt: You can add extra if you want more texture, but avoid table salt as it may be a bit harsh
- 1 teaspoon of coconut or argan oil
- 1/2 a teaspoon hair gel or spray gel (borrow some from your resident male if at all possible)
Optional: A blob of conditioner and/or a squeeze of lemon juice if you wish to lighten your tresses.
Once you mix all the ingredients together in the bottle, liberally spray your hair while it's damp after showering. Give it a scrunch and twirl with your fingertips, before allowing it to dry naturally and, voila! Blake Lively who?
