How to Fit in Exercise During the Holidays

    • 1). At the beginning of the week, schedule in some type of physical activity on at least four days. Preferably include both strength building and cardiovascular activities.

    • 2). Cut your exercise time to 20 to 30 minutes to increase the chances that you can fit it into a busy schedule.

    • 3). Plan one family activity each week that gets you moving together such as cleaning, walking or a seasonal sport like ice skating.

    • 4). Throughout each day identify ways you can move more and take advantage of them. Options may include taking the stairs, walking to destinations or to deliver a message or taking a lap around the mall before beginning to shop.

    • 5). Ask family and friends for help with small tasks that will free up time for you to fit in your exercise.

    • 6). Stick to your scheduled exercise plan and take advantage of any spare time that you can fit in a few more minutes of moving each day.
