How to Remove Marks From Legs After Waxing
- 1). Exfoliate and moisturize your legs two days before waxing. Use a body scrubber and body wash to remove dead skin cells from the legs. Moisturize the legs using lotion to keep the skin healthy and to help prevent dry-skin irritations.
- 2). Soak two bath towels in warm water before waxing. Wrap each leg a towel and keep it on for at least 10 minutes. The warm water and towel will act like a mini-sauna for your legs and will help open hair follicles, making them easier to remove. The easier it is to remove the hair, the less chance there is of marks and irritation on the skin.
- 3). Apply a cream or lotion to the affected area. Hydrocortisone cream, aloe vera and tea tree oil all have soothing effects on irritated skin. Each cream or oil reduces redness, helps repair the damaged skin and contains anti-inflammatory agents to prevent swelling and puffiness. Apply a thin layer to the affected areas using your hands and fingertips and rub in the cream or oil. Reapply daily until the marks have disappeared.
- 4). Apply an antiseptic to your legs using a cotton ball. Dab the cotton ball with the antiseptic and immediately run the ball around the affected areas after you've completed waxing your legs. The antiseptic will help prevent ingrown hairs, help sooth irritated skin and bumps on the legs and prevent infection.
- 5). Do not cover your legs with stockings, pants or leggings soon after waxing. Let your legs breathe and the skin heal from the waxing process. Immediately covering your legs with clothing can cause your skin to become irritated or worsen existing irritated skin.
