How to Grip a Golf Club With Ten Fingers
- 1). Set the clubhead behind the ball with the face pointed toward the target (perpendicular to the target line).
- 2). Place the index finger of your left hand (for a right-handed golfer) under the handle, about four inches from the top, so the handle rests on the second joint (middle) of that finger. The handle should run from the middle of the index finger through the base of the pinkie.
- 3). Wrap your fingers around the handle. The thumb should rest just to the right of center as you look straight down the shaft (at 1 o'clock if you think of the grip as a clock face). The heel pad of your hand (below the little finger) rests atop the handle.
- 4). Place the second joint (middle) of your right pinkie under the handle, touching the left index finger.
- 5). Wrap the fingers of your right hand around the handle, covering the thumb of your left hand. The thumb of the left hand (for right-handed golfers) rests between the heel pad and thumb pad of your right hand, while your right thumb rests just left of center as you look down the shaft.
