Florida is nicknamed "The Sunshine State" and its mild, sunny weather lures golfers to the links year round. Fort McCoy has no golf courses within its city limits, but golfers can find several just a few minutes away in neighboring Ocala. The town is home to both public and private courses. - The Ocala Golf Club is located about 14 miles from Fort McCoy. The course has been recently renovated to mix playability with historic design. There are four sets of tees, 34 white sand bunkers, and dwarf Bermuda grass greens. Carts are optional. The course has practice facilities available and a big screen television in the 19th Hole snack bar. Traditional attire and spikeless shoes are required. Tee times are subject to change, but as of August 2010, they begin at 7 a.m. and end at 4:45 p.m. As of June 2010, adult rates for 18 holes range from $16 to $29. Annual memberships are available.

ocalagolfcourses.com - Baseline Golf Course is a par 61, 19 hole executive course. It is open to the public and has no mandatory dress code. The greens and fairways are planted in Bermuda grass. The course is open year round, and fees range from $20 to $49 as of 2010. Water hazards sit on nine of the holes, and the signature hole requires making a tee shot onto an island. The men's yardage is 3,484, while the women's yardage is 3,213. The course is located less than 20 miles from downtown Fort McCoy.

This 18 hole course was rated one of "America's Top 75 Affordable Courses" and "Top 75 Public Courses" by "Golf Digest." Eight of the holes are replicas from famous courses around the world, including Augusta, St. Andrews and Royal Troon. Bermuda is the grass of choice for the greens and fairways. All three tees are a par 72 with yardages of 6,735, 6,197, and 6,735. Bermuda shorts and a shirt with a collar are required, and no denim is permitted. As of 2010, the greens fees range from $20 to $49.
