How to Learn Renaissance Hair Braiding
- 1). Brush your hair so that it is smooth. Part your hair in the middle using a comb.
- 2). Take a piece of hair at the front of your face and divide it into two sections and twist each section. Then twist the two pieces of hair together a few times until it is one section.
- 3). Twist a section of hair right below the section you just braided and then twist the two sections together until it is one section. Repeat this step until you have braided that half of your hair.
- 4). Braid the other half of your hair using the same techniques as above.
- 5). Fold the left braid up toward the right half of your head and vice versa. Pin down the ends of the braids with bobby pins.
- 6). Weave a ribbon through your braids for variation. Place a C-shaped needle with a blunt end through a long piece of ribbon. Leave some length to the end of the ribbon.
- 7). Start at the back and sew the ribbon using a whip stitch, which is a simple overcast stitch, until you reach the part of your hair. Use mirrors to help you with this process.
- 8). Sew an X with the ribbon over the part of your hair. Then continue to whipstitch the ribbon through the rest of your braids.
- 9). Tie the ends of the ribbon into a bow. Remove the bobby pins from the ends of the braids. Add flowers for more variation, if desired.
