A Quick Look At The Damaging Result Of Obesity

Many years of research and medical experience have established how much obesity is detrimental to health. The expenses to contemporary society in the US is shocking and approaches several hundred billion dollars every year. Obviously a lot less is spent for weight loss products, but it continues to be in the billions annually. The US is slowly gaining more weight with each passing year, or so it seems. Of course the food and beverage industry does not help things. Many folks are aware of the prevalence of high calorie fats and all kinds of sugar evident in many varieties of junk food and drinks. We only have room to cover several of the hazards due to obesity.

Millions of people in the US suffer from Type 2 diabetes, and the principal reason for it points to obesity. What is now even more alarming is the rising number of cases of this condition in younger people who are also significantly overweight. Obesity is known to cause insulin resistance which is important and a precursor to raised levels of glucose levels. A person who is already considerably overweight or severely obese is at an increased threat with a sugar rich diet. One very unhealthy ingredient used in countless sodas is high fructose corn syrup. There is just no comparison between high fructose corn syrup and processed sugar.

Premature problems concerning joints can often be a side effect of the obese state. Particularly vulnerable joints are the knees and hips, plus the reason for that is they bear so much weight. The seriously obese person is usually at higher risk for joint troubles such as osteoarthritis. However, the answer is not always so clear-cut as merely changing a damaged joint. People that are not obese can generally have successful joint replacement surgical treatment. Certainly only a medical professional will make the final decision for those with abnormal weight problems. If a joint is replaced, what can generally occur are further complications after the surgical procedure. The elevated weight may actually cause the joint to become loose which often can further damage encircling bone.

There is usually increased risk for developing blood pressure complications when a person is obese. As along with many other of our bodily functions, excess fat puts a severe strain on the body. The occurrence of so much fat is merely a huge demand for air that is supplied by the blood. It all leads back to the heart clearly since that is what moves the blood. Not surprisingly, one's heart must generate a great deal of pressure to keep all that tissue oxygenated. There is also an increase in the heart rate as it functions in reaction to all that requirement.

It is very apparent that obesity is a condition that seriously impacts all capabilities of the body. But our discussion here today is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all that is possible.
