Girl Child Hairstyles
- The natural look is common for young girls, as it is easy to maintain and manage. Kids are extremely active, so wearing their hair in sophisticated styles might be unnecessary. For girls with naturally straight hair, it can be worn natural by using a leave-in conditioner to keep the tangles out, brushing it and wearing it long. Naturally curly hair is a little more difficult, and may require an extra conditioning or smoothing product to keep the curls from becoming frizzy or tangled.
- Young girls enjoy wearing their hair in pigtails--a ponytail on either side of their head. There are several ways to wear pigtails, whether they are high on top of the head, more to the side, or toward the bottom to lie on the shoulders. Long bangs can be brushed back and tied in with the pigtails, or cut short to lie over the forehead.
- Braids have traditionaly been popular for young girls, and the trend is still going strong today. Braids also have a wide range of possibilities. A braid can be started at the bottom of the head, or a french braid can be done starting at the top of the head. Girls may also like to wear pigtail braids high up on their heads, or starting at their shoulders and letting the braids fall to the side.
- Many child hairstyles include bangs that are cut short. They may start far back on the head or just a few inches from the forehead. Bangs may be worn straight down the forehead, parted in the middle or to the side or pinned back with a variety of hair accessories.
- Wearing hair accessories is common for young girls. These include items such as bobby pins, barrettes, headbands, scrunchies, butterfly or other hair clips, ribbon and hair ties with decorations on them. Many hair accessories in assorted colors and patterns are available for different outfits and looks.
