Adrenal Fatigue is certainly not a new condition, as many have been experiencing this condition for years, it's only that none were able to be properly diagnosed due to the fact that only now are doctor's becoming aware of this type of illness.

This condition is when your adrenal glands don't function properly, especially if you are experiencing stress.  These glands sit just over the kidneys and are responsible for secreting over 50 different kinds of hormones – including cortisol, progesterone, DHEA, estrogen and testosterone.

The causes of Adrenal Fatigue can come about due to emotional stress, smoking, drugs, poor diet, excessive sugar intake, and any other high level stress components.  When stress is experienced over a long period of time, the glands begin to produce less cortisol, the body's main stress hormone.

Cortisol plays an important role is allowing your body to handle stress as well as maintain a healthy immune system that protects the body from various illnesses.  When the adrenal glands struggle to meet the high demands of cortisol production, you eventually end up having adrenal fatigue.

Those suffering from adrenal fatigue will start to notice a distinct pattern in their energy levels.  They will find themselves very fatigued in the mornings, and not functioning fully until midday, and then, by the afternoon, they are starting to feel fatigued again.  Most that suffer from fatigue will have more energy in the early mornings as well as late at night.
