What Are the Main Things Women Are Concerned About When it Comes to Outer Beauty?

    Weight

    • The Telegraph newspaper reports that the results of a poll taken Sept 2009 by Fox for its television show, "Lie to Me" discovered the number three lie told by a man was, "No, your butt doesn't look big in that." Obviously, the question was asked by a woman. Women are concerned about their clothing size, which translate to their weight. Eating disorders are predominant among women, as are weight loss programs and diets.

    Breast Size

    • According to the Cosmetic Plastic Surgery statistics, in 2008, breast augmentation was the number one surgical cosmetic procedure performed in the United States. The size of their breasts matters to many women. Not only are there push-up bras to give the appearance of a larger breast but also many women are concerned enough about their size to undergo surgery and enlarge them.

    Wrinkles

    • Department stores, makeup counters -- even the 99 cents store -- are filled with beauty creams and lotions which are alleged to plump up skin and eliminate the appearance of wrinkles. There are also cosmetic surgeries, such as Botox injections, facial peels and eye lifts, to remove the wrinkles.

    Hair

    • Women know gray hair dates them. So does the beauty industry, which has devised methods to accommodate women in their quest for eternal youth. Hairdressers can color, highlight or lowlight gray hair .They can chemically treat straight hair to make it curly, while curly styles can be chemically treated or hot combed to become straight. Human or artificial hair is added to the scalp to increase the length or thickness of hair, while hair is blow-dried and styled on a daily basis.

    Nails

    • Open-toed shoes, sandals, anklets and toe rings bring attention to the toenails. Television advertisements increase this concern as they focus on the nail conditions of the toes, such as fungus and yellowish-looking toenails. Pedicures have become a monthly staple in many womens' beauty regime as they have their toes trimmed and painted or calluses scrubbed away.

The nail regime carries into bi-monthly nail treatments for the hands. Woman mask nail problems, such as a bitten cuticles and brittle nails, by receiving manicures or the application of "fake" nails and "fills" over their real nails.
