For the one who is obese, there are very many serious threats to health and total well being. The annual cost is many tens of billions of dollars in the US for all the associated problems related to obesity. What appears contradictory is the billions that are also spent on weight loss products on a yearly basis. So there seems to be a war that is being waged for our health. What is also very well known are the many processed foods and liquids so many people consume. Many people are aware of the prevalence of high calorie fats and all kinds of sugar found in many varieties of fast foods and drinks. We only have room for several of the hazards due to obesity.

One of the most serious effects of obesity is type 2 diabetes, and a lot more new instances appear each year. More younger people in their adolescent years are overweight, and doctors are witnessing an upward spiral with type 2 diabetes. The role of obesity in this illness is to produce elevated resistance to the hormone, insulin. A person who has already been significantly overweight or severely obese is at a high threat with a sugar rich diet. One very harmful component used in countless soft drinks is high fructose corn syrup. This mixture is a lot like very concentrated sugar and can send blood sugar levels soaring.

Other severe disorders that are often seen consist of destruction of certain joints in the body. Certainly the bottom extremeties bear the most load, and so it makes sense that obese people have hip and knee joint complications. When the joints have so much wear and tear, they will produce other severe issues such as arthritis. Patients with excessive weight problems do not always make for the best candidates for man-made joints. However, the most effective results occur when there is no obese state in these patients. But for those who could reap the benefits of it yet are obese, this is simply not always recommended. At minimal it can be a risky treatment as the heavy weight on the synthetic joint can cause difficulties. The joint that was changed may begin to be mechanically unsound that is certainly highly undesireable.

High blood pressure is a very common occurance among those who are obese. It seems that pretty much every major function in the body is challenged. All of the excess fat that is present is living tissue, and therefore it requires vital oxygen and other nutritional needs. It all leads back to the heart clearly because that is what moves the blood. Not interestingly, the heart must create a great deal of pressure to keep all that tissue oxygenated. In addition to the high blood pressure, the heart rate will probably be greater as well.

It is quite obvious that obesity is a problem that seriously impacts all functions of the body. There are many more equally threatening problems that can easily result from an obese condition.
