How to Plumb Bob With a Putter
- 1). Stand directly behind the ball, so that it lies on a line between you and the hole. You need to be 3 or 4 yards behind the ball, so that you have a good view of the ball and hole without moving your head too far.
- 2). Extend one arm straight in front of you, with the putter held loosely between two fingers. Point the putter head away from you, so that it's weight doesn't pull the putter shaft to one side, but lets it hang vertically.
- 3). Position the shaft of the putter so that the bottom of it obscures your view of the hole.
- 4). Raise your eyes without moving your head and check where the upper section of the putter shaft falls in relation to the hole. If it is to the right of the hole, the green slopes to the left, and vice versa.
