How to Practice Badminton
- 1). Shuffle your feet from side to side and front to back. Keep your weight on the balls of your feet and keep your feet about a shoulder length apart from each other. This helps give you good balance when playing.
- 2). Practice hitting serves. Stand against the back line of the badminton court and hit shuttlecocks over the net in either the underhand or the overhand position. Practice aiming for a certain spot on the other side of the net to improve your accuracy.
- 3). Hit drop shots. Drop shots are shots that land in the front portion of the opponent's zone. Practice these by throwing the shuttlecock into the air and lightly hitting it so that it lands just over the net in an area that the opponent will have a hard time reaching.
- 4). Work on other shots including drives, long drops, cleass and smashes. The smash, for example, is one of the most popular and feared of all badminton shots. In this shot, you use a quick flick of the wrist to hit the shuttlecock sharply when it is high in the air. The shuttlecock will travel low into the opponent's side and the player will unlikely be able to return it. Aim this shot at a side portion of the court.
