Wouldn't you like to have smooth, supple skin and shiny, full of life hair? Raw shea butter can have exactly those results on your skin and hair!

Shea butter comes from a tree called the Shea tree that grows only in Africa. The tree produces green fruit similar in appearance to an olive.

When fully ripe, the fruit falls off the tree. Inside the fruit is a nut. When the nut is dried and cracked the butter can then be extracted.

The traditional method is to boil the cracked nuts in water for several hours. After the butter rises to the top, it is scrapped into containers so it can cool.

Another method involves pressing the butter from the cracked nuts. I prefer this method because there is no waste and the butter never gets hot.
