One Skincare Mistake Everyone Makes
Most of us can go to any extent for a bright, glowing skin. Yet, how often do we witness people complaining about acne, rosacea, or wrinkles.
Most of the time, these complainers also mention how precautious they were. They say theyve been 100 percent organic the whole time; they claim to be an advocate of everything natural, including peels and exfoliants, but there is one thing they are missing. As a matter of fact, there is one big mistake they are committing and its rubbing the skin of the face.
Hot showers and products that require you to rub them excessively against your face are one of the primary causes of acne and aging. Also, lifestyle habits that are the cause of heat and friction on the skin should also be avoided.
Take gym for example. The heat and sweat can compel any gym-goer to rub her face to wipe out those streams. Its natural. A good work out causes the capillaries to dilate so sweat can be vented out. Then sweat glands kick in to cool the body.
People often believe sweating blocks their pores and is the reason why they develop blackheads. But this too, is nothing more than another myth. We sweat because we are meant to. Sweat is water for most part (98%) and the remainder is salt, which falls off so theres nothing in sweat that can clog the pores.
However, when the body is all heated up, sebaceous glands AKA oil glands, get more active.
The real issue is that most of us would wipe off that sweat with our sleeves, or a towel, or with hand if nothings available and this is what signals friction to our brains. With repetitive wipes, the defensive mechanism of the brain kicks in which manifests in the form of thickened skin layer, more sebum or redness.
With more sebum blocking their sebaceous pores, they are more likely to develop acne, even infection in some cases.
What to Do?
So if you can relate yourself with it, the remedy is simple if you have to get rid of that sweat, make sure you wipe it off with a soft cloth. Pat it gently off your skin. Never rub, even with softest fabric.
To reduce redness, especially if rosacea or acne is a common problem for you, use cold compresses during or after the workout.
