Do you often experience upset stomach? If you do, then you may want to increase your intake of food that will relieve stomach pains. Below is a list of some of the foods that experts recommend for a happy and healthy stomach.

First in the list is yogurt. Yogurt is filled with lots of lactobacilli or good bacteria that keep the stomach feeling light and healthy. It also helps in preventing digestive problems such as loose bowel movement and constipation. In addition, yogurt is a very good source of calcium and it contains a very little amount of fats.

The next one is garlic. Garlic is one of the healthiest foods that we can give our stomach. It is a good antiseptic therefore it is very effective in killing the different harmful bacteria present in the stomach because of the food we eat. This process of eliminating harmful substances can keep the stomach away from any digestive problems.

The third great stomach food is whole grain. Whole grain products are generally rich in fiber therefore they help in cleansing the stomach and the intestines and they help in regulating the bowel movement. Some examples of whole grains that you can add into your diet are brown rice and oatmeal.

The fourth one is chicken. If you are having upset stomach but you still want to consume meat, then chicken is your best choice. Be sure though that the chicken was cooked without seasonings and with only very little oil. Baked chicken is great for the stomach because it can be easily broken down by the digestive system.

If you are not fond of chicken, then your next choice is fish. Fish is also very healthy for the stomach because it is easily digested and it does not trigger any production of gas. Just like with chicken though, try to keep your fish as simple as possible. Try not to put too much seasoning on it.

Of course, vegetables are also in the list. Vegetables, especially those eaten fresh, are great sources of fiber and they are loaded with nutrients. Be sure to give them a good wash though before consuming them raw. Remember that vegetables grow in the soil therefore there may be some soil in them. If you do not want to consume them as they are, you can blanch them in hot water to soften them a little.

Last but not the least is fruit. Fruit is a great source of fiber and sugar as well. Because of the fiber content, they are happily absorbed by the stomach. There is one word of caution though. You need to eat fruits that go well with each other. For instance, apples and pears are good to eat together. However, there are some combinations that may create some unwanted gases in the stomach. For instance, you should never eat banana with watermelon as this may upset your stomach.
