46
Do you are someone you know struggle with focus attention; are unable to resist the urge to exhibit impulsive and sometimes dangerous behavior; and/or feel uneasy or restless. If the answer is yes then you may be one of the many attention deficit hyperactivity disorder adults fighting the tough daily battle known as ADHD.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder adults become frustrated easily. Even the slightest distraction at home or at work can cause them to lose their train of thought. Focusing on one thing at a time can be problematic leading to multiple projects going on at once with few every reaching completion. They may have been classified as “daydreamers” or “space cadets” or someone who is not “detailed oriented.” Controlling sudden impulses may be difficult and their coworkers may get angry at them for interrupting conversations for no good reason. It is not unusual for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder adults to have really high insurance premiums brought about by a history of auto accidents or other mishaps brought about by impulsive behavior. They may also struggle at work when they are required to stay seated for a long period of time and find it difficult to work quietly.

When you boil it down attention deficit hyperactivity disorder adults are often disorganized, restless, and forgetful but ironically it isn’t their fault. Their unconventional and sometimes unproductive behavior doesn’t happen because they’re lazy or not giving it their all, it happens because they find it exceptionally difficult to concentrate on a single thought or topic for more than a short period of time. For adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder no amount of motivation will be enough to offset the underlying forces driving the condition.

The inability to focus has set the table for a very high percentage of those struggling with ADHD to underachieve at school and work, regardless of their potential or qualifications. And sadly, due to the above reasons, attention deficit hyperactivity adults are more prone to struggle with keeping a job, make less than stellar grades, and are regularly in conflict with people they love.

Most adults with ADHD have struggled with symptoms such as inattention, impulsivity, and restlessness since they were small children and can vividly remember their past struggles. The slap on the hand by their second grade teacher, the trip to the principal’s office in fourth grade for blurting out that rude comment during class, or that incomplete grade for failing to turn in that required homework assignment are all childhood memories that could come rushing in at a drop of a hat.

In summary, the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder adult facing challenges that most people will never understand. Some will overcome their challenges but most will feel as if they are always climbing uphill, never quite able to grab the ring of success they are striving for, that is unless they find help.

What Next? For those struggling with ADHD finding an effective treatment option is a necessary first step. The most common form of treatment are prescription stimulants such as Ritalin, Adderall and Cylert. While effective all stimulant medications come with a number of serious label warnings. The risk of side effects, or perhaps lack of success with stimulants, has prompted many to investigate other options. A couple examples of this are behavior modification therapy and/or natural remedies. Natural remedies for ADHD are a side effect free way to address such problematic symptoms as inattention, distractibility, impulsivity, erratic behavior and restlessness and can be used both as a standalone treatment or as a compliment to other nonprescription alternatives.
