Cleaning a Canvas Purse

    Canvas Carryalls Need Special Attention

    • Canvas bags are stylish, simple and chic, but they do require special care if you want to keep them looking their best. If your bag has a printed logo, you'll have to clean it carefully so the dyes don't bleed and the fabric doesn't lose its shape. Discover the best way to keep your canvas bag looking fresh and clean.

    Dab, Don't Dunk

    • Use a wet sponge and mild detergent to spot clean your canvas bag. Never submerge it into water, as it may shrink or become discolored. Apply the soap onto the sponge or washcloth, not onto the bag itself. Then, gently dab at the stain without scrubbing. Allow it to dry naturally. Repeat if necessary.

    Magic Eraser

    • Use a Magic Eraser sponge if the soap and water method doesn't work. Wear rubber gloves, wet the Magic Eraser, squeeze the excess liquid from the sponge and softly dab at the stain using a brushing motion until the stain lifts. Repeat if necessary, then use a damp, clean sponge to rinse, gently using dabbing motions. Allow the bag to air-dry.

    Squirt and Scrub

    • Squirt Resolve onto the stain as a last resort. It may fade your bag, but it will probably get the stain out. Use a clean toothbrush to scrub at the stain, then use a damp sponge to gently rinse it. If you like, you may use a blow dryer in between scrubs to help you see the progress you've made.
