Homemade Wax Bath

    • 1). Get approximately 2 to 4 wax blocks, such as paraffin wax or a different type of wax.

    • 2). Grease the insides of a casserole dish either with butter or olive oil. Set it aside.

    • 3). Drop 1 or 2 blocks into a pan, you can add more later if it is not enough. Set the pan over a second pan filled with about 2 cups of boiling water, or use a double boiler. The wax needs to be melted. Set it over medium heat in the double boiler or the two pots.

    • 4). Stir the wax with a spoon while it heats and begins to melt. Pay close attention to it so that it doesn't burn.

    • 5). Add 1 oz. of olive oil and about 20 drops of an essential oil that is safe to use on skin into the melted wax and stir.

    • 6). Pour the wax into the casserole dish and wait until the wax forms a slightly hardened layer on its surface. Break it up with a spoon.

    • 7). Test the wax on your wrist. Pick some up with a spoon and carefully pour it onto your wrist. If it feels too hot, wait a few minutes and test again. If it feels comfortable, it is ready for use.

    • 8). Wash and dry your hands. Remove any nail polish with acetone or nail polish remover and a cotton pad. Pour about ½ oz. of olive oil into your palm and work it into your hands, fingers and nails evenly.

    • 9). Heat a bath towel either by running it under scorching hot water or by placing it in an oven or on a radiator.

    • 10

Dip one hand into the wax and wait for the wax to dry and lose its shine. Repeat several times until your hand is covered with a thick layer of wax. Keep hand still and do not bend your fingers so you can avoid cracking the wax. Cover your hand with a sandwich bag. Repeat for the other hand.

    • 11

Place the heated bath towel over the sandwich bags on your hands. This traps the heat from the wax and helps cure joint and muscle aches caused by diseases such as arthritis and fibromyalgia.

    • 12

Relax in a comfortable position for about 30 minutes. Keep your hands as still as you can.

    • 13

Remove towel from hands. Then carefully remove the sandwich bags. Peel off the wax from your hands until it is removed completely. Discard the wax and do not reuse it.
