How to Wear Light Makeup in the Winter
- 1). Dot a tinted moisturizer with SPF all over your face and smooth it on evenly with a sponge. After allowing moisturizer to absorb into your skin for about a minute, dab a makeup primer on and blend it into your skin as well. Pat a creamy concealer two notches lighter than your skin tone on the delicate skin under your eyes to add brightness to the area. Tap the product gently with your ring finger until demarcation lines disappear. Set your base by sweeping on translucent powder with a large fluffy brush.
- 2). Fill brows in with a stiff angled brush dipped into brow powder. If your brows are well-defined on their own, with barely any sparseness, you may leave them as is or simply groom them with a brow gel.
- 3). Apply an even layer of shimmery cream-to-powder eyeshadow from the lash line to just past the crease. Select a winter color such as deep blue or purple. With an eye smudge brush, trace the color along lower lash lines as well to balance top and bottom lids. Give the shadow a little bit of a smoky effect before it dries by smudging it instead of letting it sit as a clean line. Even if you use a deeper shade than usual, the product is sheer and allows your skin to show through. On browbones, smooth on a highlighter with very subtle shimmer to add just a pinch of polish.
- 4). Thicken lash lines by working a creamy black pencil into both top and bottom lash beds. This way onlookers don't see an actual line, but your lashes appear lusher and fuller. Curl your eyelashes. Stroke a black thickening mascara through top lashes only. De-clump with the tip of your mascara wand.

All-over color stick
Give yourself a glow with an all-over color stick in a noticeably deeper shade than you wear at other times of the year. An ideal hue would be grape or blackberry. Distribute the product onto only the apples of your cheeks; the creme formulation blends effortlessly, so there shouldn't be any problem for you to apply only as much--or as little--as you want. With the sponge, erase any hard edges in your initial application. Using clean fingers, press some of the all-over creme color onto your lips. The effect should be similar to a stain, as though you've been eating berries. Top with a clear lip gloss, if desired.
