Protein and Your Health

25
Over 100,000 proteins in our bodies allow our bodies to function well.
These proteins make cells, repair cells, make hormones, make blood components, keep our immune system functioning, help the liver to function, help our brain to function and even allow our bodies to fight infections and recover from illness and disease.
Almost every function in the body relies on some sort of protein.
Amino acids are the building block components of proteins.
Every protein in the body is made up of twenty different ones in varying combination's.
Eleven of those are what are called Essential Amino Acids.
We get them from our diet.
The body cannot make these like it can with the other nine.
Each type of protein is made up of long strings of essential and non-essential amino acids, depending on what the protein is.
Studies show that most dietary proteins are between 40 and 60 percent EAA's.
The only way to get them is to eat them.
If the body becomes deficient in even one EAA, all kinds of things can go wrong and any of the 100,000 proteins in your body may malfunction.
Hormone production can be affected which can affect your blood sugar or your thyroid function.
A whole myriad of metabolic systems could be adversely affected.
Blood proteins that help remove toxins and acidic metabolic by-products from the body may no longer be able to efficiently detox the body, allowing poisons to re-enter the body and build in the tissues.
The pancreas is one of the hardest working organs in the body in managing our metabolism.
If the pancreas becomes distressed, its ability to produce the two quarts of digestive enzymatic juice and digestion can be hampered.
This enzymatic juice is what helps the body break down our foods into Essential Amino Acids.
Without them we can become protein deficient.
Enzymes are proteins that are made and used up very quickly by the body.
There are around twenty-two different digestive enzymes that the body makes depending on which foods are eaten.
If the digestive system has adequate protein, it will make whatever digestive enzymes it needs in the required quantity and strength.
The delicate balance of digestion and metabolism can be maintained by eating a balanced diet of fresh fruits and vegetables and a variety of protein.
Checking with your favorite dietitian or nutritional consultant can provide you with the reassurance than your diet is adequate for your Essential Amino Acid and enzyme needs.
