8L milk - 0.
25L Cream - 0.
2Kg castor sugar - 8 whole eggs
- loaf white bread no crust(or you can use a few days old scones or croissants)
- Vanilla essence to taste
- Mix all ingredients until sugar has dissolved
- In a desired dish place the bread and pour mixture on top
- With your fingers work the mixture into the bread by compressing the bread allowing it to soak up the mixture
- Cover with foil and pop into a pre-heated oven at 200'C for 1 hour
- Remove from oven and brush with silicone brush apricot jam.
- Mix cinnamon into the milk mixture(about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon will be enough)
- Chocolate chips always does well.
just a sprinkle over the bread before your mixture goes on top of the bread - Add fresh strawberries to the pudding
- Drench the bread in caramel or melted chocolate for a more distinct mix of flavours and texture
- Orange or lemon zest straight into the milk mixture
This dessert is a traditional British dessert and can be traced back to the 17th Century and came alive through a variation of another classic British dessert Bread pudding.
Legend says that people would make bread pudding so as to not waste the bread.
This classic dessert is still very popular amongst tourists who visit Britain and has remained a all time favourite by its numerous variations seen in restaurants and TV shows.
