Why Learning to Take the Initiative is Important For Success
There are a limitless number of opportunities in today's world to make a success of ourselves.
However we have been brought up in a society that has taught us that the way to structure our lives is first through formal education and then get a good secure job until we retire.
The problem is that many of the jobs we are employed in involve following orders and instructions from someone else.
Whilst a good majority of society is happy about this situation which lets us live inside our comfort zones with others making the big decisions - for us to become truly successful we have to operate to our own rules.
Taking the initiative means being able to make the right decisions off our own backs by combining self-confidence and judgement Must of us have never been taught how to operate independently because of this structure that we have been brought up to follow, yet somehow think that riches and success will fall into our laps.
Few people have the necessary entrepreneurial skills to find opportunities to make them stand out in the world, but this is what we should be doing if we are to rise above the mediocre and fulfil our potential.
Attaining success means seizing the moment and putting all our focus into an opportunity that presents itself.
It requires courage and calculated risk knowing that success will be theirs through persistence and determination.
A person who is meek and timid is very rarely rewarded with financial or personal success and likewise recklessness will not succeed.
Finding a balance between courage and caution is the trick.
A combination of being daring and cautious is what we can define as calculated risk.
This isn't just taking a gamble but weighing up knowledge and a gut feeling about how to proceed.
With it comes a risk of failure but the successful person will minimise the chances of this as far as possible.
If we are confident then our actions will override any fear of failure.
Making snap decisions can mean the difference between success and failure but by being rational and confident we are aware of our own skills and limitations.
Do as much research as possible before proceeding with any venture.
One of the biggest enemies we have to conquer is procrastination.
This undermines any hope we have of being the decisive person we need to be in order to be a success.
It is important that this behaviour is eliminated from our character as soon as possible.
Set yourself daily goals however small and don't let anything deter you from accomplishing them.
Even trivial things must not be put off "until tomorrow" if this applies to you.
The reason why this is important is because your mindset affects your behaviour and daily habits.
Once your mindset is trained for the correct use of thinking, this will encourage initiative, and the more daily goals you set yourself to achieve, the more you will turn initiative into routine behaviour.
