Saliva is very important in every individual, this is use to moisten and cleansing our mouths and helping digest our food. Saliva prevents in infection this controls the fungi and bacteria in your mouth. If you don't produce enough saliva your mouth will surely dry up and will make you feel uncomfortable. With such poor production of saliva there are many ways and effective ways in treating Dry Mouth (Mundtrhed). Here are some things to know more about dry mouth:
  • Dry mouth is also known as Xerostomia. There different causes of dry mouth: different side effects of some medications that you have taken. Dry mouth is one common side effect of many none prescribe or prescribe medicines. Dry mouth can also be a side effect of some muscle sedatives and relaxants.

  • Dry mouth sometime is a side effect on some medical conditions, like HIV/AIDS, anemia, Alzheimer's Disease, Stroke, hypertensions, rheumatoid arthritis Mumps and Sjogren's Syndrome.

  • Dry Mouth (Mundtrhed) is a side effect of such medical treatments. Like during chemotherapy treatments in cancer patients, there is a possibility that there salivary glands are damage in which it production of saliva is reduced.

  • This can also result in damage to your nerves due to surgery or injury.

  • Or even due to such surgical removal of your salivary glands. And your lifestyle will also matter like you chew tobacco or smoke cigarettes this will affect the production of saliva and your continuous breathing with your own mouth also contribute to Dry Mouth (Mundtrhed).
  • There are possible common symptoms of Dry Mouth: A dry and sticky feeling in your own mouth; you get to be thirsty all the time; split skin or sores in your mouth skin and to its corners, cracked lips, a red dry tongue and a tingling and burning sensation of your mouth and specifically on your tongue, you will have a problem in tasting and speaking or even in swallowing and chewing; most of the bad symptom to dry mouth is bad breath or halitosis.
  • With dry mouth it will be hard in your part if you wear dentures; it will be difficult in wearing your dentures. With dry mouth it is a big possibility to increase one person's risk to aggravate gum disease or gingivitis.
  • If you are taking medications and you realized it may be one of the causes why you have dry mouth then try consulting your doctor about it. Maybe your doctor will help you and adjust the medicines that you are taking. Or even letting you switch to another kind of medicines or drugs. You can also try to practice using a mouthwash to restore the moisture of your mouth.


Dry Mouth (Mundtrhed) in some ways can be resolved and helped like try to drink plenty of water to keep moist in your mouth, or even sucking some sugar free candies or even some sugar free chewing gums. Also dry mouth is totally part of a person's normal aging.
