How to Plan a Baseball Practice
- 1). Allow players to warm up by slowly jogging around the field. After one or two laps, they should stretch their legs, arms and torso. Warm up activities should last 10 minutes.
- 2). Practice rounding the bases, sprinting to each base. Players should touch each base while in full sprint. Only 10 to 15 minutes should be spent on this technique.
- 3). Pair up players, allowing them to throw the ball to each other. They should practice by standing 20 yards apart. Gradually, players should back away from each other by 10 yard increments. Throwing practice should not exceed 10 minutes.
- 4). Allow players to practice in 10 minute stations until all players have completed the circuit. A complete circuit should consist of ground balls, pop-ups, hitting and fielding the ball.
- 5). Play a scrimmage game where players can practice their techniques prior to playing an actual game. Coaches should use this time to correct any improper forms or techniques.
