41
Are you tired of taking that daily pill or two or three to control your blood pressure? Are you sick of the side effects or worrying about potential side effects? Are you looking for a natural way to lower blood pressure? Well you can you know.

Yet another study has been done, this one on the leading causes of stroke, naming high blood pressure as the number one cause of both ischemic (blocked blood vessel in the brain) and hemorrhagic (burst vessel in the brain) stroke. The INTERSTROKE study found that high pressure coupled with obesity, smoking, diet and lack of physical exercise accounted for 80% of all strokes.

Not surprisingly, the study went on to say that these risks can be modified naturally.

How many studies do there have to be before physicians start prescribing changes in diet and lifestyle rather than writing out a chit for the latest and greatest drug that the pharmaceutical representative told him about over lunch last week?

But it's not all the doctor's fault is it? If you don't use blood pressure medication then you have to take action. If you don't pop a pill every day you are going to have to make affirmative changes in what you eat, what you drink, the amount of exercise you get and the amount of stress management techniques you have to use. In other words you have to take responsibility for your health and that's not always a convenient thing to do.

If you are serious about a natural way to lower blood pressure then you have to be serious about making changes in your lifestyle. Let's start with easiest and fastest way to lower your pressure.

Exercise

Thirty minutes a day, and it doesn't have to be all at once, of moderate aerobic exercise like walking or cycling can lower your pressure by up to 4 points immediately. How tough is that? A ten minute walk in the morning, a ten minute walk at lunch and a ten minute walk when you come home. Not only will you lower pressure but eventually you will knock off pounds as well.

Diet

You don't have to become a food Nazi. You can break into a healthier diet gradually by setting up easy to achieve weekly goals. Restaurant food is absolutely loaded with salt and even the healthy sounding dishes like chicken are often times saturated with fat. Make it a goal to replace one fast food meal a week with something healthy from home. Google DASH diet and you'll get a huge list of tasty heart healthy dishes.

Hydrate

Being fully hydrated is a problem for most Americans. The condition get's worse in the summertime particularly if you spend all day in an office where the air conditioning is constantly sucking out the humidity from the air. We breathe in dry air and the moisture in our body evaporates. Water plays an important role in almost all of our systems. With blood pressure, water encourages elasticity of the vessels allowing them to handle pressure more efficiently and it flushes out sodium.

You should be drinking half your body weight, expressed in ounces, of water each day. If you weigh 150 pounds you should be drinking 75 ounces of water.

There are literally hundreds of ways to naturally lower blood pressure including some methods that are remarkably fast. If you want to get off the meds then do your homework, make a plan, and then commit.
