The Primer on Healing by Prayer
Dr. Mark Stengler, N.D., covers the use of prayer in his book The Natural Physicianââ¬â¢s Healing Therapies. He writes; ââ¬ÅMy recommendation is simple ââ¬" a daily routine of prayer, offered in faith, to enhance health and wellness. Prayer can be used to prevent illness, maintain good health, and heal the most serious of diseasesââ¬Â.
Additionally he says; ââ¬ÅThe evidence is simply overwhelming that prayer functions at a distance to change physical processes in a variety of organisms, from bacteria to humans. These data...are so impressive that I have come to regard them as among the best-kept secrets in medical scienceââ¬Â. [pp 373-374]
Obviously what is missing are the keys on using prayer successfully for healing. Not to worry though. I am here.
Some of the missing keys are to whom you pray. That makes a difference yet it is not mentioned. Another key not discussed is how to have or increase faith in God to whom you are praying. Finally, another undiscussed key is the type of relationship you have with God. That is to say, you are more likely to be successful in prayer if you are a best friend of God then one of his worst enemies. I am just saying....
Your mental / spiritual focus is also important. By way of illustration, I like to use the book The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. The pertinent part says; ââ¬ÅEvery man has the natural and inherent power to think what he wants to think, but it requires far more effort to do so than it does to think the thoughts which are suggested by appearancesââ¬Â. [p 22]
Just in case you were wondering, God himself is aware of this human tendency. His Word says of Christians that ââ¬ÅWe live by faith, not by sightââ¬Â. 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV.
The trick of course is learning how to maintain this focus. There is a helpful and free article about this which you can download from my website.
Probably the best known and most recent Christian healer was Smith Wigglesworth. In the book Smith Wigglesworth on Healing, there is a story of a healing that took place in Wales. The sick manââ¬â¢s name was Lazarus. Wigglesworth and six others healed the man. Smith wrote of them that ââ¬Å...those six people had gotten their eyes of the sick man and were taken up with the Lord Jesus Himself. Their faith grasped the power in His nameââ¬Â. Their focus was spot on.
The conclusion of the whole matter is that healing still works today IF all of the above is taken care of. As well as a few other things. So whether you want to learn to heal, or you need healing, donââ¬â¢t give up hope. It can be done.
