With age comes skin aging. It's a fairly logical assumption, right? However, skin aging isn't just about the onset of years. There are also other factors that play a role on how well one's complexion will look. Among such factors are lifestyle and genetics.

Now unless science comes up with ways to safely meddle with genes or time, the only thing you'll have control over would be your lifestyle. So if you want your skin to continually look good despite the onset of years, you should know about what habits to avoid so you can get better looking skin:

Sunlight Exposure - Constant, unprotected exposure to ultraviolet rays can make the skin appear more mottled. In fact, UV rays can turn freckles into brown sun spots and give your complexion take up a leathery and dry appearance. Sagging and wrinkles may appear, if not increase, when skin is always exposed to the sun's heat. Worse, it greatly increases the risk of skin cancer. The good thing is it's easy to avoid sun damage by simply keeping yourself covered with proper clothing or apply sunscreen (at least SPF 30) when you go out on hot days. Combine these with the use of a reliable anti-aging product and you can steer clear of sun damage.

Alcohol Dependency - Too much alcohol can contribute to the deterioration of skin because it dilates the small blood vessels near the skin's surface. As a result, the increased blood flow over time may permanently damage the blood vessels, leading to a flushed appearance that will turn unsightly in the long term. Moreover, alcohol can really dehydrate the human body, and constant drinking may drastically reduce skin moisture. The effects in the long-run may include, but will not be limited to: skin dryness, sagginess, and roughness, in addition to increased risk of acne breakouts.

Smoking - Whether you're a smoker or are constantly around someone who smokes a lot, it's likely you'll get damaged skin from all the cigarette smoke you're exposed to. Research reveals that smoking (or being exposed to smoke) can significantly accelerate the aging process, and this reflects on the skin the most. One reason behind this that cigarette smoke can rapidly deplete the body's vitamin C supply, which is a substance that's key to keeping the skin moist and plump. As a matter of fact, some researchers suggest that the smoke from cigarettes can be as damaging as sunlight exposure.

Stress - First off, you're more likely to frown when you're stressed, and when you frown your facial muscles may eventually conform to such movement. The result? Wrinkles. So be wary of your stress levels and do your best to the expressions you put on your face throughout the day. There are many ways to help relieve yourself of all the tension you feel, such as yoga, meditation, relaxation techniques, or gentle exercises. Along with using the right anti-aging serum, observing stress reduction activities can greatly diminish fine lines and wrinkles. And that's not even mentioning how they will make you look younger than you are.
