The Human Body As an Electrical Supply House: Is It Possible?
What comes to your mind when you think of electrical supplies? Is it bulbs, wires, posts or cables? Well, good for you. All these are related to electric or electricity. Electric as defined by Merriam Webster is ââ¬Åof or relating to electricity, operated by electricity and or providing electricityââ¬Â. Common electric accessories we have at home are batteries, fluorescent lightning fixtures, fuse, ballasts, electric cord, sockets and the power outlet. Obviously, we may be able to find all these, with several variations too, at any of our local electrical supply store. Each of these components is interconnected in one way or another. Obviously, all are dependent to the power being provided by the power plants on each location. But how did electricity came to life and light up the human world? Nature has there way to introduce itself to people.
Long time ago, the very first carrier of this electrifying marvel is the Electric fish. They were even called the ââ¬ÅThunderer of the Nileââ¬Â as shared by Wikipedia. Along with this discovery, ancient Greeks, Romans and physicians came on record and writers such as Pliny and Scribonius Largus proved the ability of torpedo rays and catfish to transmit electric shocks. Several scientists came to the scene and explored this wonder. Well known Benjamin Franklin organized his study and even sold his possessions to fund his work. He was recognized to have proven that lightning by nature is indeed electrical. Included in the lists of famous scientist and inventors related to electricity were; Luigi Galvani (discoverer of Bioelectric), Alessandro Volta (discoverer of voltaic pile), Hans Christian Orsted and Andre- Marie Ampere (creator of electromagnetism) and Thomas Edison (discoverer of the Light bulb).
Since then, more studies were made and the progress on Electrical science rapidly increased. It started with the simple electric fish and up to this very moment, improves brilliantly. Would you believe that even our very own human body makes electricity? Try to recall your Physics subject. Remember Atom? I am not referring to the steel robot character in ââ¬ÅReal Steelââ¬Â but atom, as what is defined as a basic unit of matter. Matter, per se, is solid, liquid, gas or plasma.
