L-ornithine is regarded as a non-essential amino acid which is produced by the body.
It is is a non-protein amino acid and has some similarities to another amino acid found in the body called L-arginine.
It can be found in protein sources such as meat, fish, dairy and eggs.
L-ornithine is known to increase the production of HGH, or human growth hormone.
Research has shown that human growth hormone is a powerful rejuvenator - its use has the potential of reversing aging by up to 10 to 20 years.
After the age of 30 the pituitary gland produces 1% less growth hormone per year and growth hormone is vital to maintaining the body in a youthful state.
This led to an early quest to try to make artificial HGH supplements.
