What Do You Know About Time?

33
Though we cannot see it, time is the fabric of which life is woven.
It cannot be seen or heard, purchased or bartered, limited or extended.
It is a collection of golden threads spinning out the life of each person born on earth.
Each thread is composed of small and large units so we may separate them and evaluate how we have used God's gifts in each of them.
Time is a stroke of a pen.
It leaves its mark and moves on.
It is a musical eighth note; once played it remains in the memory for a heartbeat, then disappears.
Time is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity; once merged with the waves it loses its identity.
It is a grain of sand tumbling through an hour glass seeking the company of those gone before, and having found them merges indistinguishable.
Time Is for Living Time is a mosaic through which we weave our lives between cycles of seasons and opportunities.
Though imprisoned between two markers-the day we are born and the day we die-God has placed us in a beautiful world with seasons of planting and harvesting to provide food, clothing and shelter, with the sun, rain, and good weather to bless our well being.
Yet, we are not puppets of a secular world, but spiritual creatures with mind, body, and reason-privileged heirs of an immortal soul Though we have no choice about our birth or death, God expects us to determine what work we will do and how we will live in this world between those markers.
We may change the scheme of life at will.
We may plant and harvest, build or tear down, pursue success or indulge in the folly that leads to failure.
The myriad of actions and reactions that dominate our relationships prompt us to help or to harm, to break or to mend, to make love or wage war.
In the midst of all this, God gives us opportunity to recognize his goodness and love and, with his power, act accordingly.
Time Is for Freedom.
Our lives are like a journal titled "Freedom.
" Though God determines the beginning and end, our lives are blank pages upon which we may write laughing or weeping, happiness or gloom, sadness or joy-the record we leave in the memories of those who knew us.
We have the freedom to choose, to record good deeds or evil deeds, speak gentle words or words that tear at hearts.
God gives us freedom to choose the kind of life we will live, how we may earn our way in the world, whether we build or tear down, live with purpose or indolence.
Time offers opportunity to work or play, to learn wisdom or indulge in folly, to speak with love or hate, to demonstrate wisdom or foolishness, to act in pride or humility.
Only with hearts open to God's love can we experience something of eternal value.
God Uses Time to Offer His Grace Time is a period of God's grace-his goodness, love, and mercy freely bestowed-that provides opportunity to learn of our sins and his plans for repentance and forgiveness.
So you must use time wisely to get close to God and remain in his light.
Having missed the beginning and unable to guess the end, your days and years unfold with the trivia of life: trials and triumphs, friends made and lost, successes to cheer and failures that make you weep.
Your moments of usefulness define you-a helping hand to a stranger, words of love to heal a broken heart, a smile to scatter gloom.
Enjoy them while you can, but appreciate how soon they are forgotten.
It is God who knows your purpose and sees the whole.
Only his work endures.
Do not ignore the inevitable moment when time stops and eternity beckons.
Use your time wisely: • Honor your Creator for he gave you two precious gifts-his love and a space of time.
• Worship Jesus for he put aside eternity for a time to teach, suffer, and die that you might live in his righteousness forever.
•Treasure the gift of the Holy Spirit for he works through a simple word to grant you the forgiveness of your sin, the peace of God, and a timeless eternity in his presence.
