Super Size America

82
It is no surprise that America is overweight since the media has been drilling this into our heads for quite some time now.
From movies to the 5 o'clock news, we have seen the negative effects modern day society has on our weight.
There are over 120 million overweight adults age 20 or older in the US alone.
That is almost 2/3 of the entire population, 62% of women and 71% of men fall into that category.
To me, these numbers are eye opening.
The numbers have steadily increased in recent years, not discriminating against gender, race, education level or ethnic groups.
In addition, Americans are twice as likely as Europeans to become obese.
Therefore, we are more likely to suffer from chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
The reasons why are not a mystery.
What can't you do online these days? Americans spend an average of about 87 minutes per day in their cars.
On top of that, 90% of people say they use a car as their main source of transportation.
Hopefully, those numbers may be going down as a result of spiked gas prices.
It might be a blessing in disguise, forcing us to walk or take public transportation to work.
Of course, there are 3 major factors to take into account which are genetics, environment, and psychology.
In general, we live a more sedentary lifestyle based around computers, TV's and take out food.
Experts say this is the main cause of weight problems but others argue that people's eating habits and weight are more related to how they deal with stress.
To better your chances of maintaining a healthy weight, determine which factors affect your life.
