How to Become a Pleasing Aroma to the Lord
"...
it is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.
" Luke 1: 9b, 13c & 17d I wondered why this verse was repeated 3 times in the first chapter of Leviticus.
As I was meditating, I found no answer.
Though I found one, (which is probably because there were 3 examples of burnt offering) I found it inappropriate to what I am seeking.
Then suddenly I arrived to noticing one verse which kept on repeating throughout the chapter.
Present your bodies as living sacrifices.
This was the first verse that I thought when I have read the verse that was written above.
Humans were created by God like lambs that are to be sacrificed to Him.
We, as humans, should offer ourselves as living sacrifices to the God of heavens who first found us.
It seemed awkward with the customs of this world but it is what the Father requires of us.
We are the same burnt offering God refers in this chapter.
But it is not just a simple offering, beloved.
We should go under purification.
The best way to purify gold is to put it on fire.
And then after the process, the victory of having an untouched treasure would become the greatest wealth for a person.
And this is what the Lord had made us to be.
We should undergo purification, just like how metals and gold purifies through fire.
Remember the story of three friends who were pursued to worship other gods by their king.
This was the best example for purifying the faith of saint.
Such a mysterious story.
They were put inside the fiery furnace because of their disobedience to the king.
But this made them prove that there God was more powerful than any other phenomena on earth.
God used fire to show the people that these three men would outshine them all for their faith in their one true God.
Perhaps, as they were walking inside the furnace, God was smelling the beautiful and pleasing aroma of their souls.
We were made much better through fire, through painful circumstances, through dim and vague moments, through problems and troubles, through trials and persecution and even through death.
But learn by heart that through these things -- through becoming an offering made by fire and becoming a burnt offering -- we become an aroma pleasing to the Lord.
How wonderful and amazing to know that the God of this universe would care to make us a wonderful treasure untouched by any impurities.
Instead of getting mad and confused why you experience such things, get on your knees and thank God that He wants you to be a sweet aroma pleasing to him.
Endure the fire and please the King of kings.
