How to stop your children from smoking
It is generally belief that, prevention is better than cure and I agree perfectly to that.
It is belief more than 90% of smoker started smoking right from their teenager. A lot of reasons make teenager to go into smoking, but only two out of many reasons contribute 98% of the total number of cigarette smoking youth or teenager and the two reasons are:
1. Peer pressure.
2. Having smoker as a parents.
Parents have the greatest impact on their children yet a lot of parents failed to put their child in the right direction by inculcating what will call moral character into their children right from their youth.
How do you prevent your children from smoking? Well, to prevent your children from smoking you yourself must not be smoking. if you are a smoking parents and you really want to stop,
Smoking parents, why do you need to stop smoking?
1. You cannot give what you do not have.
2. Children learn faster by imitation than by words. That is, what they see is what they do.
3. They will listen to you, if they see you doing what you preach or tell them.
B. do not just tell them not to smoke but sit them down and explain to them the effect of smoking cigarette. Children tend to learn listen and abide by what you told them if they know the why.
c. tell them in love and not in commanding tone except if it needed and if you do call them later and explain the why behind your action.
D. do not create fear in them but love.
E. Know the kind of friends they move out with. A lot of parents failed or are failing in this aspect. They do not care what type of friends or company their children walk with. No matter what you teach them at home, this aspect is important as what you teach them at home. Bad company corrupt good manners. Why is this important? They spend more time with friends than with you their parents and so it become so important that you care about the company they keep.
