Parchment Paper Lantern Crafts
- Create a string of parchment paper lights to hang on a patio or in a window. Fold origami paper cubes with a 10-inch square piece of parchment paper. Gently blow into the opening of the paper cubes to inflate them, then push the cube over a bulb on the light string. Make sure the bulb does not touch the paper. Cover each bulb with a cube, hang the string and turn on the lights.
- Hang Halloween-themed parchment paper lanterns from trees or your front porch to greet trick-or-treaters. Cut a spooky face out of the center of a piece of orange parchment paper, then curl the ends of the parchment paper and tape them together to create a tube-shaped pumpkin lantern. Hang a light bulb from a porch or tree branch using an extension cord and some rope. Glue or tie thin wire to four points along the top of the parchment paper tube, then secure each end together in order to hang the lantern with the light bulb centered inside.
- Form a round lantern using a round, disposable plastic ball as a template. Wrap thin wire around the ball to form a spiral from the bottom to the top. Leave a strand of wire stemming up from the spiral to hang the lantern with. Pop the ball inside the wire and discard all plastic pieces. Paste parchment paper around the spiral form to complete the design. Add a light and hang the lantern.
- Download and print a star lantern template onto parchment paper. Cut and fold according to the template, then glue the star points together. Use flame-resistant wire, not string, to secure the light inside the star and hang it. Make stars as large or small as you want, and consider attaching several stars to string lights.
