The David Kirsch Diet Plan
- The Ultimate New York Diet includes an comprehensive eight-week eating plan that is broken down into three phases. Phase I is the most restrictive and is based on Kirsch's A, B, C, D, E and F's of nutrition which stands for no alcohol, breads, starchy carbohydrates, dairy, sweets or fruits. During Phase I, meals consists only of lean meats such as turkey, chicken or fish and vegetables. One or two protein shakes are also consumed during the day. Phase II allows healthy carbohydrate latitude, and Phase III includes weekly cheat meals.
- For the first two weeks on the plan, Kirsch recommends daily workouts consisting of 45-minute cardio sessions followed by another 45 minutes of aerobic exercise with strength training and toning or an abdominal and leg routine.
After the first two weeks, Kirsch's maintenance exercise program begins. This program requires three days of aerobic exercise with strength training and toning, two days of 45-minute cardio sessions and two days of 30-minute strength training sessions. - Krisch recommends calorie counting and keeping a wellness journal that records exercise and nutrition for maximum results.
