Other causative parts associated with this condition are medical problems such as diabetes, chronic acid reflux, bronchitis (inflammation of the bronchi) and pneumonia. It may also be a cause of a health problem called Xerostomia or in lay man's term "dry mouth". This problem occurs when the stimulation of saliva diminishes.

Saliva helps in keeping your mouth moist and eventually helps in eliminating food particles. It is necessary to keep your mouth clean, brushing your teeth and using a dental floss can reduce or prevent bad breath. You must brush your teeth including your tongue at least twice daily to get rid of the food particles. It is also important to clean your teeth after you eat. This will help in preventing bacterial growth in your mouth. Flossing also helps in removing plaques or food particles that are embedded between your teeth. Mouth washing can also reduce the odor. However, if a bad breath condition is serious doing these practices are only temporary and is not a guarantee of becoming halitosis free.

If your halitosis problem is something severe it may be associated with the medical conditions that were mentioned above. It is important to consult a dentist, to determine as to whether this is something he or she could handle. If in case that your dentist finds out that you do not have any oral problems, he or she might refer you to your family doctor or other physician that specializes with other medical condition like diabetes.
